Summer crochet dress pattern

A crocheted dress from 2 Butterfly balls by YarnMellow is easy to make and absolutely great to wear. You can wear it in winter and in summer, and thanks to the stitch pattern it needs no lining and still is not see-through. It takes quite a long time to make, but the pattern is not complicated and you do not have to count much.

For size 36 (EU) I started with 90 stretchy chain stitches. You will learn how to make a stretchy chain in the video. Choose the length of the chain according to the widest part of your bust. The dress is pulled on over the head and is fitted, so you need to try it on constantly while making it and add stitches as needed. Most of the increases will be around the bust and hips. If you have a really narrow waist you can also decrease slightly, but usually that will not be necessary; just crochet straight without increasing and the dress will adapt.

It is crocheted in a spiral and the round is never closed. Only two rows of the pattern, called the Alpine stitch, alternate throughout.

Materials used:

2 Butterfly balls, total length 3000 metres (enough for sizes 36-40) – play with the colours and combine solid and multicolour balls, or choose several smaller ones to make the dress even more striped.

2.5 mm crochet hook

And right at the end: a yarn needle and scissors.
